Types of API services

There are two ways to access the consumer’s address information:

• Geo-approximation services: Use this service if you just need the approximate location of the consumer. Most consumers may not be willing to give their entire address information. So if you don’t have to have the actual address, use these APIs.

• Complete-address services: Use this service only if your require the complete address details of the consumers’. This requires explicit authorization from the users via oAuth authentication mechanisms.

At this time, only the Geo-approximation APIs are open to developers. The oAuth APIs will be announced shortly.

Restful Web Services

Our Developer Platform uses the Representational State Transfer (REST) architectural approach to expose our web services. For more information about REST, visit Wikipedia for more information. Our APIs return the consumer’s geo-information as XML documents.

Ours APIs permits read-only access and modification of our member data is not allowed. Visit Platform API specifications for the API details.
